The crew at Queensland’s own Great Northern Brewing Company pulled out the party streamers to celebrate today.
And for the company, there was extra cause for celebration – an increase in beer sales by 66% over the last year.
Three years ago when a couple of blokes at CUB wanted to invent a quintessential Queensland beer, they could not have imagined how it would take off.
The news has given Rockhampton Great Northern drinkers extra reason to celebrate International Beer Day today, and Great Northern co-founder and CUB Queensland General Manager Cameron Levick said he couldn’t be happier.
“Great Northern has only been on the market for three years, but such a strong increase during the last year is showing us that we’re hitting the mark by offering Rockhampton locals a refreshing, Queensland produced brew,” Mr Levick said.
He said the strong growth can be seen across not just their stubbies and can range but Queensland beer lovers also had a hankering for Great Northern on tap.
“Over the last nine months there has been a massive 173% increase in venues now offering Great Northern Draught,” Mr Levick said.
“Rockhampton beer lovers are getting their local bartenders to charge their glasses with Great Northern Draught today, so they can celebrate the only official day for beer.
“Today’s International Beer Day will see Australian beer lovers join thousands of people in 207 cities across 50 countries to celebrate all things beer, with festivities set to continue well into International Hangover Day tomorrow.”
